Tamil community charity in London
A school run by The London Tamil Sangam for children in Britain.
The school aims to help Tamils living in England preserve their traditions, values and culture by staying connected with the Tamil language, arts and literature. Our goal is to help children keep this connection alive through their language, arts and literature.
Our objectives are to provide Tamil language, literature and culture education for the community and others interested in Tamil studies; to create curricula suited to learners' needs; to collect and share educational resources for learning Tamil; and to run courses in Tamil language, literature and culture, whether for general knowledge or towards a qualification.
The school was established on 20 November 1983 and continues to run every Sunday at Plashet School in East Ham. Around 120 students, from Class 1 up to GCE level, are taught by trained teachers using methods suited to the European context. The Sangam has also been an authorised Cambridge University exam centre for Tamil GCE O-Level and A-Level for the past ten years.
